Environmental Friendliness and Interdisciplinarity towards Sustainable Development

In pursuit of enhancing environmental awareness and supporting sustainable development goals, PUA’s Faculty of Languages and Translation organized a symposium titled “Environmental Friendliness and Interdisciplinarity towards Sustainable Development”, as part of the faculty’s second environmental campaign under the slogan “Green Pharos”.
The symposium focused on discussing ways to strengthen collaboration among diverse academic disciplines to address contemporary environmental challenges, while highlighting the pivotal role of educational institutions in promoting a culture of sustainability among students and the broader community. The event featured participation from leading academics and experts in environmental and humanities fields, who explored mechanisms for integrating environmental concepts into academic curricula and fostering innovation in sustainability solutions.
The Dean of the Faculty emphasized that “this symposium aligns with PUA’s vision to transform into an eco-friendly campus, where sustainability practices are embedded across all aspects of the educational process.” The Dean added that “collaboration among different disciplines is a cornerstone for achieving sustainable development goals both locally and globally.”
The symposium included interactive panel discussions showcasing successful joint environmental projects involving the faculties of Engineering, Science, and Arts, alongside practical workshops on designing actionable student-led initiatives within the university campus. Additionally, the faculty honored students who presented innovative ideas to improve the university’s environmental footprint.
This year’s “Green Pharos” campaign has expanded its activities to raise awareness about the green economy, natural resource management, and carbon emission reduction, in alignment with Egypt’s national 2030 strategy. The faculty plans to continue organizing similar events in collaboration with local and international partners to achieve its ambitious environmental vision.
