A Field Visit to EMPC
The Graphic and Media Arts Departments at PUA’s Faculty of Arts and Design in Alexandria went on an educational field trip to the Egyptian Media Production City (EMPC), offering students an insider’s look into film set design and visual content production.
Key Stops During the Tour included exploration of permanent and temporary filming sets, with detailed demonstrations on architectural-style set design, visiting streets replicating historic Alexandria neighborhoods and courthouse squares. It also featured advanced technical hubs (Central Control Room, Dolby Atmos Sound Studio), and classic car exhibits used in film productions (e.g. Sayed Cima vintage cars).
The trip aligns with the departments’ mission to equip students with hands-on experience in digital design and media production management, bridging the gap between academic theories and real-world industry demands. “These visits transform students from passive learners into active contributors to the creative industry,” stated the trip coordinator, emphasizing the role of practical exposure in shaping future media professionals.
