Exploring the Synergy of Sustainable Landscaping
In an effort to reinforce environmental awareness and expand students’ scientific understanding of sustainability concepts, the Architectural Engineering Department organized a distinguished cultural and scientific lecture. The session was delivered by Dr. Fathi El-Naggar, a renowned consultant and expert in landscape architecture. Organized by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pakinam Nabil, the event aimed to highlight the necessity of integrating natural elements as a core component of the architectural design process to create balanced and eco-friendly urban environments.
During the lecture, Dr. El-Naggar provided a rich scientific exploration of the close relationship between architecture and the botanical environment. He shed light on the pivotal role of green cover in enhancing urban quality of life and improving the general health and psychological well-being of occupants. Furthermore, he presented a detailed explanation of the latest global scientific methods for incorporating plants and landscape elements into sustainable architectural design, illustrating how to select plant species that align with environmental and climatic standards to maximize natural resource efficiency and reduce carbon footprints in urban areas.
The lecture saw exceptional engagement from students, who praised Dr. El-Naggar’s ability to combine a clear, simplified presentation with profound scientific depth, helping them grasp landscape coordination concepts more accurately. The department management expressed its sincere gratitude to Dr. Fathi El-Naggar for his attendance and for sharing his extensive expertise. The faculty emphasized that such gatherings are essential for refining students’ professional skills and connecting them with modern practical applications that support national and international trends toward green architecture, ultimately empowering graduates to compete in the labor market with high environmental and technical consciousness.
