As part of PUA’s student activities programs, the Faculty of Arts and Design held a seminar entitled “Heritage Components in Contemporary Interior Architecture.” The seminar began by presenting the approaches to dealing with heritage buildings through reviewing some concepts, heritage values and trends. After that, the issue of heritage and modernity was tackled, while indicating the importance of linking them to achieve continuity.

Further, some examples of contemporary architecture where the architectural heritage identity is preserved were displayed. At the end of the seminar, legislations related to the preservation of heritage buildings were discussed. Furthermore, the students were familiarized with the role of the National Organization for Urban Harmony of the Ministry of Culture. The Organization’s key goals related to achieving aesthetic values in urban space, and improving the visual image of Egyptian urbanism were also identified.
