Faculty of Pharmacy Organizes the Scientific Day of the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics with the Participation of Distinguished International Experts and Researchers

The Faculty of Pharmacy at Pharos University in Alexandria organized the Scientific Day of the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics as part of the University’s commitment to supporting scientific research, promoting academic exchange, and keeping pace with the latest developments in pharmaceutical sciences.

The event was attended by faculty members, teaching assistants, researchers, students, and alumni. During the event, Dr. Ahmed Mekawy, Director of Preclinical Animal Models Research at Muchpharm, Australia, and Lecturer at the University of New South Wales, Australia, delivered a lecture entitled **“Preclinical Animal Models in Respiratory Disease: Bridging Discovery and Translation.”** In his presentation, he highlighted the importance of preclinical animal models in advancing respiratory disease research and translating scientific discoveries into therapeutic applications.

The event also featured a lecture by Prof. Dr. Ashraf Kamal Mohamed Awad, Director of the Flow Cytometry and Advanced Imaging Units at the Center of Excellence for Research in Regenerative Medicine and Its Applications, Alexandria University. His lecture, titled **“Center of Excellence for Research in Regenerative Medicine and Its Applications: Achievements, Challenges, and Future Directions,”** reviewed the Center’s accomplishments and discussed the key challenges and future opportunities in the field of regenerative medicine.

Additionally, Mostafa Ghazy, Researcher in the Department of Molecular Neurology at the University Hospital of Erlangen, Germany, delivered a lecture entitled **“Immunoprofiling and Immunotherapy in Multiple System Atrophy: Emerging Neuropharmacological Insights.”** His presentation explored the latest research findings on immunotherapy and immune profiling in cases of Multiple System Atrophy.

The event concluded with a recognition ceremony honoring the speakers and participants for their outstanding scientific contributions. The certificates of appreciation were presented by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Othman, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development and Acting Dean of the Faculty; Prof. Dr. Rasha Shaalan, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research; and Prof. Dr. Nesreen El-Mezein, Acting Head of the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics.
