Sustainability in Everyday Dental Practice
PUA’s Community Service and Environmental Development Center (CSED), in cooperation with the Green Pharos Committee at PUA’s Faculty of Dentistry, held a student workshop titled “Sustainability in Everyday Dental Practice.” This event aligns with PUA’s third environmental campaign, titled “Green Pharos,” aiming to elevate awareness of modern environmental concepts and link them to professional practices in the field of dentistry.
The workshop offered a comprehensive introduction to current environmental issues and climate change challenges, highlighting their direct impacts on public health and oral health, followed by interactive discussions and practical activities. The core themes introduced students to sustainable development goals, carbon footprints, circular economy mechanisms, and the concept of “green hospitals,” while reviewing global success models. The event witnessed remarkable engagement as students executed illustrative charts identifying the sources of carbon footprint accumulation within dental clinics, offering practical proposals and solutions to minimize waste and mitigate environmental impacts, thereby preparing a medical generation capable of adopting sustainable practices within their professional career.
