Proposals for Local and Recycled Resources
In implementation of the third environmental campaign, “Green Pharos,” and within the framework of PUA’s strategy to integrate sustainability into academic and practical practices, the Faculty of Arts and Design held a specialized seminar titled “Proposals for Local and Recycled Resources.”
The seminar explored methods for maximizing the utilization of available local resources and recycled materials, adapting them for various artistic and design practices. It placed a particular emphasis on the designer’s fundamental responsibility to adopt sustainable solutions rooted in innovation and waste reduction. Furthermore, the speakers showcased a range of practical models and pioneering projects illustrating how reused materials can be seamlessly integrated into the design process, ensuring a meticulous balance between environmental sustainability and high-level aesthetic and functional value in the final product.
This seminar aligns with the continuous efforts by the university and the Community Service Center to instill environmental awareness within the academic community and support the faculty’s orientation toward utilizing eco-friendly resources. Additionally, the initiative aims to encourage students and researchers to adopt sustainable design practices that align with the “Green Pharos” vision, contributing to the preparation of creative professionals capable of addressing environmental challenges through innovative solutions that preserve local identity and natural resources.
