Under the auspices of Prof. Maged El Ghazouly, the Dean of the faculty of Pharmacy and Drug Manufacturing, the faculty organized a scientific day for Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice Department. The scientific day was supervised by Prof. Soad Toaima, the Vice Dean of Graduate Studies and Research and Dr. Gihan Salah, the acting Head of the Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice Department. All faculty members and teaching assistants were invited to this day which was held on Tuesday, 26 November 2019. Many topics were discussed during the day, most notably of which were:
- The Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) that is used in health sciences and is designed to test clinical skills such as patient communication skills, clinical examination and differential diagnosis.
- An introduction of the role of clinical pharmacist in clinical care.
- A quick review to the clinical data base available in the Egyptian Knowledge Bank and a presentation of the research methods employed in the sources of a number of publishers and search engines used in academic research to access scientific research and educational videos.
- An introduction of how to find and download new books in the field of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice at Kuopio University Hospital in Finland.
The day also included a lecture about the pharmaceutical education system in Finland and the different roles of pharmacists in the Kuopio University Hospital which is affiliated to the University of Eastern Finland. The attendees were also introduced to the pharmacy of the Kuopio University Hospital, the administrative hierarchy of its employees and the use of automated system for dispensing medicine which in turn leads both to affording safe products for the patients and saving time.
