Under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Gaber Abo Ali, the Dean of faculty of Engineering, the Mechanical Engineering Department organized a celebration to mark the opening of a new student chapter that is affiliated to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) on 22/10/2019. The ASME student chapter in Pharos University is opened under the supervision of Dr. Basem Nashat, a lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department and Eng. Amr Mamdoh, a demonstrator in the Mechanical Engineering Department. The ceremony included displaying models of 3D printers, its components, operation information and how does it work. On the sidelines of the ceremony, a large number of the faculty students enrolled for the new student branch. It is worth mentioning that ASME is a not-for-profit membership organization that enables knowledge sharing and skills development in different engineering fields, toward a goal of helping the global engineering community to develop solutions to benefit humanity. The organization was founded in 1880 by a small group of leading industrialists and has grown through the decades to include more than 100,000 members in 140+ countries worldwide. One third of the ASME members are students. ASME serves this wide-ranging technical community through quality programs in continuing education, training and professional development as well as professional codes of conduct through conferences and researches
