PTBA 107 – Anatomy II

Course objectives :

This course presents basic understanding of concepts and interpretation of the musculo-skeletal system of the lower limb including bones, muscles, nerves, vessels and joints. Also the basic concepts of the respiratory system will be studied including the musculo-skeletal structures and respiratory passages.

Course description :

This course will cover the following items: – Hip bone, femur, patella, tibia, fibula and foot skeleton. – Anterior, medial posterior compartments of the thigh. – Gluteal region. – Anterior, lateral and posterior compartments of the leg. – Dorsum and sole of the foot. – Lumbar and sacral plexuses, cutaneous nerves and dermatomes of the lower limb. – Femoral, obturator, superior and inferior gluteal nerves, other small gluteal nerves and the sciatic nerve. – Hip, knee, ankle, tibio-fibular and foot joints. – Main arteries, superficial and deep veins of the lower limb. Respiratory system: – Thoracic vertebrae, ribs and sternum. – Intercostal muscles and nerves and joints of the torax. – Nasal cavity, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, bronchial tree, pleurae and lungs.
