Pharos Knowledge Sphere (PKS) is the University Institutional Digital Repository. This repository makes publicly available all the scholarly output of Pharos University  to demonstrate  the 15 years university outputs and contribution to the society of knowledge economy that we live in. Such contributions are mainly  in science technology and humanities. By scholarships, we mean  original research work and other publications which generate new knowledge, conserve past knowledge and transforms knowledge by making connections among and between ideas to further knowledge.

Scope:

The Content of this repository consist of, but not limited to:

  • Articles, creative works, or other projects authored by Pharos University staff and students
  • Senior and graduate theses
  • Selected student works, as recommended by a Faculty member.
  • Current and historic serial publications by Pharos researchers
  • Other university- related items of historic importance
  • This repository goal is to grantee a media for saving, to , promoting and/or providing access to Pharos university scientific  materials

Contributions:

Pharos university administers of the Repository,are members of Pharos University members that are representatives of each faculty,  University administration, IT members for technical assistance, and heads of departments across campus that join the process particularly recommending  and  identifying material for submission.

For Faculty Members : Pharos University research  that is published  by faculty members under Open Access terms in Scopus database , will be automatically added to the Repository by the Repository Administrator. Faculty members  are also encouraged to submit their non-Open Access work to the Repository, as long as it is a draft version permitted by the publisher’s copying and distribution policy, e.g. post-print, final manuscript, or pre-print version.

For Student work that is featured as part of campus publication, e.g. graduation research, students competitions, etc., will be submitted to the Repository Administrator for each Faculty directly after approval from the sponsoring academic department and /or the Dean of each the  concerned Faculty, and therefore  will be automatically included in the Repository. Individual papers, such as theses or other projects, are also encouraged as long as the work is sponsored by a faculty member. During the Repository upload process, students will be required to supply the name of the faculty member who granted permission for the work to be uploaded.

Copyright and Intellectual Property:

Pharos University provides access to these materials for educational and research purposes. Pharos University makes no warranty that your distribution, reproduction or other use of these materials will be non-infringing. You are solely responsible for making legal assessments regarding the use of an item and securing any necessary permissions. The written permission of the copyright owners and/or holders of other rights (such as publicity and/or privacy rights) is required for distribution, reproduction, or other use of protected items beyond that allowed by fair use or other statutory exemptions.

When uploading work, authors grant a non-exclusive right to the university  to distribute their work via the Repository. Unless otherwise indicated, authors retain all copyright privileges for their work in the Repository.

Author permission is required to upload copyright-protected work, and a good faith effort has been made to ensure that no other content in the Repository is infringing copyright law.
