Course objectives :
1. Understand the importance of intermediary metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins. 2. Emphasize the role of ATP generation, mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation and Kreb\’s cycle. 3. Identify different metabolic diseases and correlate between biochemical pathways and diseases. 4. Understand the interaction of different biochemical pathways and drugs
Course description :
Biochemistry II involves the study of metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins, biological oxidation and energy production. The course provides the students with basic knowledge of basic concepts of different macronutrients that are present in the living cells as regard their metabolism and clinical significance and diseases such as diabetes mellitus, ketoacidosis, fructose intolerance and other metabolic diseases.
