Out of Pharos University’s keenness in applying sustainable development in all fields for being a prerequisite for meeting the needs of all upcoming generations, the faculty of Mass Communication held a seminar entitled “Media and Sustainable Development” to raise the students’ awareness of sustainable development. This was held on Tuesday, 5 November 2019. The seminar keynote speaker was Prof. Waleed Abdel Azim, the Head of the Sanitary Engineering Department in the faculty of Engineering- Alexandria University and a Consultant for the Governor of Alexandria on environmental engineering. He spoke about Egypt’s vision 2030 for sustainable development as well as the successful experiences in the field of development. It is worth mentioning that the proceedings of the seminar also witnessed the participation of Prof. Mohamed Fouad, the Media Consultant and the General Advisor of the Content Development Unit at Alexandria University Office where he spoke about the role of mass media and social media in backing up the sustainable development plans, in addition to outlining a sustainable development vision for the future. Then, discussion was opened to answer all the students’ inquiries about many sustainable development issues. At the end of the seminar, certificates of appreciation and medals were distributed among the attendees. The coordination of the seminar was managed by Dr. Mirhan Tantawy, a lecturer at the Public Relations Department.
