Course objectives :

1- Units & Dimensions Students should be able to check the validity of physical expressions, drive some of simple physical quantities 2- Fluid Mechanics: Students should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding in relation to: variation of pressure with depth , Buoyant force ,ideal and real fluids, continuity equation, Bernoulli’s equation and its applications, viscosity, Reynolds number and Poiseulle’s law). Students 3- Elasticity: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding in relation to: stress, strain, modulus of elasticity, Young’s, Bulk and shear moduli and the stored energy in strained solids). 4- Thermal Properties & Heat Transfer Techniques: Students should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding in relation to: thermal expansion, heat and internal energy, heat capacity and specific heat, latent heat), (thermal energy transfer mechanisms), (work and heat in thermodynamics processes) and (1st law of thermodynamics). 5- Wave Motion and Oscillations: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding in relation to: types of waves, mathematical representation of waves, propagation of waves in taut strings and simple harmonic motion

Properties of matter. Units, and Dimensions, Elasticity, Fluid Mechanics, Vibrations and Wave Motion, Sound Waves, Heat Transfer, Basic Definitions, Heat Conduction, Heat Convection, Heat Radiation. Thermodynamics

Mid Term Written Exam 20% Quizzes 10% lab work & final lab exam 10% Interactive Learning 10% Final Written Exam 50%
