​The Public Relations and Marketing Communications Department launched “Alexandria Initiative” on Tuesday, 10 December 2019 to provide support for the Pediatric Oncology Center at Borg El-Arab University Hospital that serves Alexandria governorate and other governorates in northern Egypt. This initiative aimed to raise the awareness of both students and academics about the hospital and encourage them to give not only moral but also financial support to child patients.

The initiative was held under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud Mohy El Din, the President of Pharos University; Prof. Wael Nabil, the Dean of the faculty of Medicine- Alexandria University and Prof. Azza Ossman, the Dean of the faculty of Mass Communication. The coordination of the event was managed by the fourth-year students of the Public Relations and Marketing Communications Department; they did this task as a practical application of the Media Campaigns Course that is taught by Dr. Merihan Tantawy, a Lecturer at the Public Relations Department. It is worth mentioning that the students achieved this task in collaboration with Mr. Mohamed Fouad, the Media Consultant to the Governor of Alexandria Province. At the end of the event, it was agreed upon broadening the range of the initiative to include all hospitals in Alexandria. It is worth mentioning that the faculty of Mass Communication is going to provide a full media coverage for the initiative as a kind of support for the hospitals.
