The faculty of Allied Medical Sciences organized a seminar entitled “Platelet Rich Plasma” on Tuesday 5/3/2019. The seminar was given by Prof. Akram Deghedy, a professor of Clinical Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine in Alexandria University. The coordination of this seminar was managed by Prof. Mervat Osman, the Vice Dean of the faculty of Allied Medical Sciences and the Head of Scientific Committee. Prof. Akram Deghedy discussed the latest applications of the PRP in different medical fields and treatment of diseases. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a concentrate of platelet-rich plasma protein derived from whole blood, centrifuged to remove red blood cells. The PRP contains different growth factors and other cytokines. It can also be used for the treatment of many diseases; chronic tendinitis, osteoporosis, in oral and plastic surgery and the knee osteoporosis. At the end of this seminar, Prof. Mervat Osman awarded Prof. Akram Deghedy a certificate of appreciation for this valuable lecture and his outstanding presentation in the presence of the faculty members, teaching assistants and many students.
