a1. Discuss the pathology & clinical manifestations of Cysts of the jaws and benign tumors of the oral cavity. a2. Describe procedures/ indications of Apicectomy. a3. Describe methods of biopsy taking, pathology & clinical manifestations of malignant tumors. a4. Discuss the pathology & clinical manifestations of TMJ problems and fractures of mandible. a5. Discuss mechanism & clinical manifestations of fractures of the middle third of facial skeleton. a6. Discuss clinical manifestations of dentofacial deformities . a7. Identify factors causing Complications of Oral Surgical procedures. a8. Discuss Principles of Sedation & General Anesthesia b1. Evaluate & select between the different techniques for management of Cysts of the jaws. b2. Differentiate between odontogenic & non-odontogenic cysts on clinical basis. b3. Evaluate & Discuss techniques for management of benign tumors of OC. b4. Differentiate between odontogenic & non-odontogenic tumours . b5. Investigate techniques for management of malignant tumors of oral cavity. b6. Evaluate & select between the different techniques for management of TMJ problems. b7. Prescribe different techniques for management of fractures of mandible and the middle third of facialskeleton. b8. Recommend management of dentofacial deformities & methods of Orthognathic surgery b9. Prescribe the role of Oral Surgery and its interface with other dental and medical specialties in the management of conditions such as facial deformity and head and neck tumors. c1. Demonstrate systematic examination of oral tissues & general health status of patients. c2. Apply the proper management of patients according to priority conditions c3. Construct adequate & appropriate local anesthesia. c4.Construct teeth extraction using appropriate instruments & management of wound c5. Construct root removal using appropriate instruments & management of wound c6. Report all patient’s details & the performed surgical steps in students’ logbook for clinical evaluation d1. Work in groups and communicate well with colleagues. d2. Verify self confidence and full control in the dental session. d3. Follow time, set priorities and work to prescribed time limit. d4. Improve communication and modify management technique to suit individual behavior.

Course objectives :

The main goal of this course is to develop within the undergraduate students a foundation of professional knowledge on the pathology, clinical manifestations and treatment plan of the most common diseases, lesions and disorders affecting the oral tissues e.g. cysts, tumors, jaw fractures, TMJ disorders, developmental anomalies in addition to the necessary clinical and professional skills
