LC offers classes at the beginning, pre intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate, and advanced levels. Newly enrolled undergraduate students must take a placement test, prior to admission, to determine their level of language proficiency. The placement test’s results adhere with the Common European Framework of Reference. Depending on their test results, students are placed in the level that fits their language needs. All students will be taking at least three out of the five levels as part of the university’s requirement. Classes run twice a week three hours each.
English for Tourism and Legal Studies acquaint students with the vocabulary and phraseology used in their respective fields. These courses expose students to read texts, exchange information and compare aspects related to their major. Class time includes activities such as courtroom/hotel role-plays; problem solving discussions; listening to talks; and formal writing.
