The strategic plan of the community service and environmental development (CSED) aims to enhance PUA’S relationship with the surrounding community, and to promote social & economic responsibility.

 

As the vice president of CSED, the main aspect of our plan is to establish partnership with local organizations and authorities that can help expand the reach of PUA’s community services. It also seeks to ensure that these services are meeting the needs of the community, and are accessible to a wide range of community including those with disabilities and low income individuals.

One of CSED’s goals is to offer a variety of services that address diverse needs of the community, such as health screening & education, consultancy, professional development, awareness lectures and workshops, field researches, capacity building. Humanitarian aids as well as medical convoys are usually target poor areas, low income people, charity, orphan and civil society organizations.

 

Public school students neighboring PUA are also part of CSED plan and are provided with free medical checks by the PUA dentistry, pharmacy and physical therapy students and doctors. On an annual basis, PUA’s holds a grand celebration gathering the majority of charity and orphan organizations as one of the regular events of CSED.

The Community Service and Environmental Development (CSED) implements PUA’s role in solving the problems of the Alexandrian community, and contributing to the economic and social development at the national level, in addition to:

  • Designing projects and programs, and supervising their implementation in the various sectors of society.
  • Conducting applied field researches.
  • Participating in raising awareness and the dissemination of culture among the community members.
  • Developing the skills and capabilities of individuals and specialists.
  • Studying and proposing public policy for entities of special nature.
  • Studying and proposing public policy for the preparation and implementation of training programs.
  • Studying and proposing public policy for the organization of scientific conferences and symposiums.
  • Conducting training courses and workshops.
  • Conducting research and community projects.
  • Conducting various social activities.

Pharos University seeks excellence in the field of high education, post graduate studies and scientific research at the local, regional and international levels. Thus, contributing to community service  and achieving development at the local and regional levels.

The center aims to:

Cooperate with companies and institutions on projects in the area of social services and environmental development to ascertain the link between the university and society and this serves the Pharos University vision.
Supervise practical field research that serves society.
Launch a variety of activities in the area of social services and environmental development.
Develop training programs to meet the needs of the Industrial sector.
Provide technical assistance and consultations to establishments and individuals.

PROF. DR. MOHAMED AHMED ETMAN

Mohamed Ahmed Etman has been a Professor of Pharmaceutics since 2000. He worked as the head of Department of Pharmaceutics, Acting Dean of OAPI (Oman Sultanate), Vice dean of College of Pharmacy (ASTMT), Vice dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, PUA.

Dr. Etman has more than 60 Journal and conference publications, and is a reviewer of STDF and 9 national and international journals. In addition, Dr. Etman has supervised about 15 PhD and Master theses and 5 projects. He is a member of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), Switzerland, and the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), USA.

He was both a member and reviewer for the National Professorship Promotion Committee (2010 – 2019). He participated in more than 25 local and international conferences and is the winner of FIP – BPP prize, Portugal (2010). He also serves as an experienced scientific consultant for numerous pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities and companies inside and outside Egypt (2002 – 2016).
